Irvinne Redor isa sa mga masasabi kung sobrang galing ng mata pagdating sa pag-angulo ng mga magagandang mga tanawin sa paligid at mas lalo akong napabilib sa kanyang galing sa fotograpiya ng makita ko na ang ilan sa mga kuhang larawan niya sa nakaraang #ManilaByNightV2. Kung saan isa isya sa mga lumahok para sa isang photowalk kung saan mas lalo mahasa ang galing sa long exposure. Pero syempre given na talaga na may aking galing siya, kaya naman di na ako nagdalawang isip na imbitahan siya sa aking munting feature para sa photography ang HOTSPOT.

Tell me about yourself that people don't know:
I sing in a choir, before with the Ateneo de Manila College Glee Club, and now with the Ateneo Chamber Singers.
What is your current state of mind before we continue with the interview? Sane and stable.
How did you get started in photography?
I just wanted to shoot and some people think I have the eye for photography. I was still using a point and shoot, then. It was just last year when I bought my first DSLR.
Did you go to school to study photography?
I took an elective course in Photography under Jo Avila when I was in the Ateneo. I dropped the class because I only have a point and shoot. I enrolled in his photography workshops (outside school) as soon as I bought my first DSLR.
What camera do you use?
Now, I have a Nikon D5200 and a FujiFilm X-E1.
How would you characterize the style of your photography?
I shoot spontaneously. I’m not a big fan of set-up shots.
Can you share with us some recent images? And what's the story behind it?
Sure, I’ll send you some of my recent photos.
Who or what influenced you to become a photographer?
I think what influenced me is my love for travel and the thought of documenting my trips nicely.
How did you become a photographer? And when did your career start as a professional photographer?
I don’t consider myself a professional photographer, I’m a hobbyist photographer.
How did you go about selling your first photograph?
I haven’t sold any photographs yet. I have given away some framed prints to friends and have allowed
some organizations to use some of my photos for their website or social media use.
What makes a good photographer in your opinion?
For me, a good photographer should be a very keen observant of his/her surroundings and appreciates the subject more than just being a subject of a photo.
Do You Have A Favorite Walk Around Lens... If So What Is It?
I don’t think I really have a favorite lens. Most of the time, attached with my Nikon is the 10-24mm wide lens, while with my FujiFilm is the 18-55mm kit lens.
Which one item of equipment would you say is the most important to you?
My eye.
What is the most rewarding part of photography?
When your photos have successfully conveyed a certain emotion to people and they tell you that they appreciate your photos.
What is your most embarrassing experience as a photographer?
It’s either I can’t think of anything or I forgot about it already. Haha… Well, trying to shoot with the
lens cap on is always embarrassing.
How photography change your life?
Photography taught me to be more aware of my surroundings because the world is such a beautiful place, wherever you may be.
I know you been working with some of the famous and influential people in the country but may I ask whom do you wish/dream to work with and Why?
I actually don’t have any specific person in mind. All I want is to be able to contribute in a popular travel magazine, may it be here or abroad.
What tips can you give to someone aspiring to be a professional photographer?
Do what you love or love what you do, the money will follow. And build good networks.
What are the best tools for a beginner to learn on (besides the camera)?
A prime lens, cause you’ll learn to zoom in or zoom out with your feet.
What is your favourite recent image you have shot recently? Can you describe it’s creation in regards to location, lighting, composition, camera settings etc, also your thoughts when creating the image and what it means to you?
A favorite recent image I shot was a photo of a girl buying something from a vendo machine at night,
showing only the silhouette of the girl on the foreground, with the brightly lit vendo machine
correctly exposed. I shot it in Japan and we all know that vendo machines in Japan are everywhere. I
just thought that it’s a good reflection of everyday life in Japan.
What are the pros and cons of being a photographer? Please be specific.
Patience is key to capturing some of the best moments. When travelling, this can really slow you down especially when you’re travelling with other people.
I know you like traveling for shoot or even for chill-out, can tell me where is the best place to be to do some shoot? And why there?
Japan! People won’t really mind you when taking photos anywhere, of anyone or anything, unless
specifically restricted.
What goal are you working towards within your photography and when will you know you have reached it?
I want to publish a book of my own photography project, something like the Humans of New York.
What photographic organizations do you belong to?
I’m a member of Nikon Club Philippines and X Photographers Philippines.
Name a photographer you would like to take a portrait of?
Any famous travel photographer I’m working with in the field.
If you weren't a photographer or a multimedia artist, what would you want to be? Why?
I’m actually a freelance choral music events coordinator which I also love doing, aside from photography.
How do you see yourself 20 or 30 yrs from now?
20-30 years from now, I see myself having already traveled in all continents of the world with my photography and music.
What legacy you will leave on?
We’ll see…

Everybody is a photographer in their own right. With the coming of powerful mobile cameras, anyone
with a mobile phone is capable of making beautiful photos. Make your photos stand out and be
