What is your current state of mind before we continue with the interview? Just chill and a tad nervous on how to answer properly hahah
How did you get started in photography? It started March 2010 when I had my Nokia phone that has a high end camera at the time. I just started snapping pictures and watched tutorials on Youtube on how to take photos properly and with artistic touch.
Did you go to school to study photography? Nope.
What camera did you use? A 2 year old Canon 60D
How would you characterize the style of your photography? I shoot what catches my eye. I capture them so memories may not be forgotten
Who or what influenced you to become a photographer? No one.
How did you become a photographer? And When did your career start as a
professional photographer? I can’t call myself as a professional photographer as I haven’t even joined photography courses or any source of proper training.
What makes a good photographer in your opinion?
Someone who talks about angles, framing and exposure rather than talking about his gear and personal pride.
Do You Have A Favorite Walk Around Lens...If So What Is It?
I always use my 50mm. It’s a challenge to use prime lenses as framing means you the photographer needs to adjust and not the lens.
Which one item of equipment would you say is the most important to you?
The camera of course! Just joking, It would be my prime lens. It’s my favorite and it does magical things that changes the mood of a photograph.
What is the most rewarding part of photography? When people tend to comment and be amazed on how a took the photo. When they ask on how I took the photo and request for tutorials.
Here the some photos of Ian Joseph Domingo
What is your most embarrassing experience as a photographer? Doing funny stances on taking a photograph, Taking time on taking a photo because f adjusting exposures, apertures and ISOs to get that perfect exposure and feel.
How photography change your life?
I see the world in a different perspective, Like it’s not just some amazing sunset but something you can capture and frame.
What tips can you give to someone aspiring to be a professional photographer?
Shoot.shoot.shoot. as to what they say your first 10,000 will be your worst or was it 5000? I don’t know it’s just tones of practice and interest. You can never take a good photo if you’re not interested at the subject you are shooting at.
What are the best tools for a beginner to learn on (besides the camera)? Learn to love what you see, View reality as something you can frame and keep. Like a memory to be captured so you can remember every single part of it.
What is your favourite recent image you have shot recently? Can you describe it’s creation in regards to location, lighting, composition, camera settings etc, also your thoughts when creating the image and what it means to you?
I used my fisheye to take a photo of the cityline with the building I reside in. A fisheye lens is really hard to master as lines are curved out meaning framing is difficult to use. It has a 180’ view angle and lines are curved outward. The settings will never be the same as you have to adjust everything, In order to balnce the exposure and get the lighting right.
What are the pros and cons of being a photographer? Please be specific.
Cons: YOU WILL NEVER HAVE PHOTOS OF YOURSELF UNLESS YOU HAVE ANOTHER PHOTOGRAPER BUDDY. I guess that’s about it.
Pros: It’s fun, Being a photographer means going out and snapping pictures with your friends or groups.
I know you like traveling for shoot or even for chill-out, can tell me
where is the best place to be to do some shoot? and why there? U.P. Diliman, It’s green and the scenery usually changes over time. It’s a cool place too as trees surround the vicinity.
What goal are you working towards within your photography and when
will you know you have reached it? I guess I won’t, Possibilities are endless. There a lot of opportunities that will come to one’s life. We only have to harness it and use it to one’s advancement.
What photographic organizations do you belong to? I belong to #Jaywalkersph , A group consisting of varied genre of bloggers but with one passion, Photography.
Name a photographer you would like to take a portrait of? Ashley Gosiengfiao
If you weren't a photographer or a multimedia artist, what would you
want to be? Why? I’m not actually a photographer nor a multimedia artist. I’m a medical laboratory scientist student soon to be a medicine student and hoping to be a doctor.
How do you see yourself 20 or 30 yrs from now? A doctor that still has the time to snap pictures from time to time
What legacy you will leave on? I’ll be that kid who took photos of stars, the moon and everything that moves. HAHA
