Powerhouse Journey : Santa Cruz Church

The Altar of Santa Cruz Church

The Asiatic styles of architecture of the church.

According to the Marker of Historial Institute : "Santa Cruz Church was built and administered by the Jesuits up to 1768. Adjoining was the Jesuit College of San Ildefonso, founded by Gov. Alfondso Fajardo de la Tenza on Jan. 9,1724 the titular patroness of the church is Nuestra Señora Del Pilar, whose statue  was bought from Spain prior to 1768.
The confraternity of Nuestra Señora Del Pilar was canonically founded in this church in 1743.
On the surrounding plaza the british returned the city of MAnila to Simon De Anda Y'
 Salazar in 1764."

Description: The original church of Sta. Cruz was built in 1608 for the Chinese converted to Christianity by the priests of the Society of Jesus. When the Jesuits were expelled from the Philippines, the church became Dominican. The structure was damaged by the earthquake, and then during the Battle of Manila in 1945. The present structure was rebuilt in 1957.

Galing boss.
