Discover Taiwan's Culinary Excellence at WOFEX 2024

The Philippine World Food Expo (WOFEX) has long been a premier trade show for food and beverage professionals, manufacturers, and enthusiasts. This year’s event, themed “Evolve, Innovate, and Grow!”, showcases cutting-edge products and sustainable practices from around the globe, and runs from July 31 to August 3 at the SMX Convention Center and World Trade Center in Pasay City.

A highlight of WOFEX 2024 is the Taiwan Award-Winning Foods Pavilion, presented by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA). This new initiative aims to amplify the presence of Taiwanese products in the Philippine market. The pavilion was inaugurated by Mr. Dustin Yang of the Taiwan Economic & Cultural Office in the Philippines (TECO), Mr. Alex Lai, Director of Taiwan Trade Center (TAITRA) Manila, and Ms. Jamie Lee, Manager of TAITRA.

In his opening speech, Mr. Yang emphasized Taiwan's prowess in the food industry: “Taiwan’s food sector is distinguished by its technical expertise and efficient management. Our high-quality workforce and seamless collaboration between SMEs and large enterprises underscore our competitive edge and readiness for international partnerships.”

The Taiwan Award-Winning Foods Pavilion showcases 150 products from 71 esteemed Taiwanese companies, all of which are SMEs. Visitors can sample award-winning items such as Boba Tea, Fenglisu (Pineapple Cake), Tai Yang Bing (Sun Cake), and Vegan Jerky. These products have received accolades and certifications from Monde Selection, ITQI, Halal certification, organic certification, additive-free labels, and A.A. Taste Awards.

Mr. Lai highlighted the pavilion's immersive experience, stating, “We have incorporated Taiwanese architecture and sky lanterns into the pavilion’s design, blending cultural elements to enrich visitors’ experience. Just as music transcends boundaries, so does food, forging connections and fostering cross-cultural understanding.”

The pavilion also features interactive activities like snap and share, roulette games, and Q&A sessions, all designed to provide an engaging experience for attendees. A media-tasting event on the pavilion’s opening day was hosted by Filipino influencer Chef RV Manabat, who introduced a selection of his favorite Taiwanese snacks.

Located at Booth 1147 on the first level of the SMX Convention Center, the Taiwan Award-Winning Foods Pavilion invites visitors to experience the best of Taiwanese cuisine.
