Chinatown, Binondo Maynila
Its my 1st time to do a photowalk sa binondo maynila at syempre pumunta na rin doon para sa pre-Chinese new year, sobrang saya at ang cool ng place feel mo talagang nasa China ka,oo halata naman sa name di ba China Town, actually may kasama akong isang blogger din kasi nabasa niya yung post ko about photowalk sa binondo, so ayun gusto niya rin sumama kasi daw 1st time lang daw niya pumunta dun, noong nagkita kami akala mo ang tagal na namin magkakilala dahil sa dami ng aming pinag-usapan habang kami ang nagbibiyahe papuntang Binondo...
1st Stop naman ang Sta.Cruz Church, siya nga pala ang Sta.Cruz Church ay malapit lang sa may Pasig river and on the northern portion of the City of Manila, near the mouth of the river, in between the districts of Tondo and Quiapo.
At according to www.spot.com "Already, Eng Bee Tin has expanded and improved its product line. In the case of its hopia products, the company has included flavors such as hopia pineapple, hopia pandan and the traditional green and red mung (monggo) beans. They’ve even included a sugar-free version of their hopia.
Other products that the company introduced include tikoy, candies, cakes, frozen products, and processed seafood.
But more than just making pastries, Eng Bee Tin has also ventured on the Chinese restaurant business, something that is already dominated by other Chinese entrepreneurs. The new venture is called Mr. Ube, following the nickname of Eng Bee Tin’s owner, Gerry Chua. He was given this nickname for having successfully sold his now-famous ube hopia."

Now we entering the Chinatown proper, san nga ba nagsimula ang binondo? ang bakit naging Chinatown to?

Binondo Church, also known as Minor Basilica of St. Lorenzo Ruiz was erected in 1596. It is one of the oldest places of Christian worship in the Philippines, but over the centuries the original edifice has sustained considerable damage from earthquakes and other natural disasters. Today the octagonal bell tower is all that remains of the 16th century construction.
Saint Lorenzo Ruiz (c.1600 – Sept. 29, 1637), served at the convent of Binondo church as an altar boy. After a few years he earned the title of escribano and soon became a member of the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary. He was working as a clerk at the Binondo Church when he was falsely accused of killing a Spaniard in 1636. He sought asylum on board a ship with three Dominican priests. The boat landed at Okinawa and the group was arrested on basis of their Christian religion. They were tortured, but they did not denounce their faith and died as martyrs. Lorenzo Ruiz was beatified in Manila on Feb.18, 1981 by Pope John Paul II. He was canonized on Oct. 18, 1987.
