YouTurn : Timothy John I. Pavino

Tell me about yourself that people don't know:
-I'm a huge Power Rangers fan! And I still watch a lot of cartoons!

What is your current state of mind before we continue with the interview?
-A little exhausted from jet lag, just came home from my USA / Canada tour. But feeling happy to get back to work here in Manila.

When did you first know you wanted to become a singer?
-I've been singing since I was a kid, because my family is a family of singers. But I think "wanting" to become a singer, didn't happen till I was 19.

What was the first show you ever did? And hows the experience?
-The first time I ever did a concert, I was a special guest with 3 other kids at the age of 9, in Seattle, Washington. I remember being terrified, I could barely move my arms, and my eyes would role left to right.

What kind of music do you listen to today?
-Today, I listen to everything, but mostly whats on playlists in Spotify. I like hearing random songs I wouldn't search on a normal day, and be inspired by new sounds.

Who are your musical inspirations?
-My aunt Cecile Azarcon-Inocentes and my uncle Arnaldo Inocentes, are both great musical inspirations in my life, as a performer and a singer.

Timmy Pavino : I'm a huge Power Rangers fan! And I still watch a lot of cartoons!

Do you play any instruments?
- I can play piano, but I need chords in front of me to play, hehe!

If you could dabble in another genre of music, what would it be?
-I love R&B, and I've dabbled in it before, but never really going full throttle. Another would be, Neo-Pop, or Pop/Rock. That would be fun.

What genre of music can't you stand to listen to?
-Grunge, or pure rock.

What do you think about when your preforming?
-My memories. I think when you perform, you have to believe what you're singing about, and in order to do that, you have to go back into a memory, and remember your exact emotion then.

What is you favorite song to belt out at the bar/in the car/for karaoke?
-"Forevermore" or "Go The Distance".

What is something embarrassing or unexpected that happened to you on stage?
-During a festival, when I was still in the states, I fell off the stage.

What makes a good singer in your opinion?
-Someone who doesn't sing to impress, but sings to express. I believe, to be a great singer, is to be able to interpret a song in a way that leaves the listener or audience, with a message. Connecting them to the movie in your mind.

What is the most rewarding part of singer?
-The most rewarding part of being a singer, is knowing that it can change lives. Doesn't have to be drastically, but knowing that you can put a smile on someones face when they listen to your songs, or they needed to hear something from you when they watch you, that helps them get through something hard in their day.

What goal are you working towards within your  career and when will you know you have reached it?
-My goal in my career? I pray to God everyday, that He continues to give me strength in the work that He has started in my life, that I can continue to do bigger things, whether continuing to be a performer, or becoming a director, actor, or being to do all 3... but I just want to be used by Him, to share his message through my work, both direct and indirectly.

What else can we expect from you in the future?
-I hope to do some more acting, and continue directing, since I'm very hands on in my productions.

Considering how tough the music industry, what does it take to excel in the business?
-Centering your mind on God, and know that what we are doing is beyond ourselves. Staying healthy, and maintaining good relationships with everyone you meet. No matter how big or small the person may be, you never know how they will affect your life in the future.

What do you do for inspiration when you sit down to write a song and it seems that nothing wants to come out?
-For me, I can't write a song on command, It usually comes to me in the most unexpected times, whether I'm watching a move, or I'm driving. You have to write it down the moment you feel it.

Do you also want to write songs for other artists?
-That would be amazing. I'd love to do that if someone asked me to write them a song.

What legacy you will leave on?
-If there's anything that I would like to leave behind to other aspiring entertainers, it would be: "Don't go into show business just for yourself... go into it knowing you are going to be there to create change, something meaningful in someone's life. And never forget to put God first above it all, for without him, we are nothing. John 15:5"

Any final message? Its time to shine!!
-To everyone reading this, never forget the child in you! It's the spark that continues to shine bright, if you let it, to pave the way for new ideas. There is something in my childhood that continues to keep me grounded in everything I do. A gentle reminder that no matter what may happen in your life, good or bad, it does get better.

Thank you so much Timmy Pavino for the quick but awesome interview for the YouTurn segment of AXLPowerhouse hoping to see you again soon and more projects to come!
