Raymond Cauilan is one of my photographer friend na nakilala ko sa isang photography group sa facebook at di ko nga akalain na magiging madalas ang aming pag-uusap patungkol sa iba't-ibang mga konsepto sa photography marahil ganun nga siguro ang isang fotographer hindi ba? At isa pa natuwa ako sa kanya sapagkat parehas kaming mahilig sa kasaysayan, iba talaga pag pinagsama ang kasaysayan at fotograpiya hindi ba?

Tell me about yourself that people dont't know: Before I started photography I am more into graphics designing
What is your current state of mind before we continue with the interview?
I'm thinking of new concepts for my next shoot.
How did you get started in photography?
Well, it runs in the blood I guess since my mother and relatives nature of work is event photography. I started taking still life using my sony ericsson k850i cellphone and got the hang of it. I actually enjoyed it.
Did you go to school to study photography?
Nope! self taught here.
What camera did you use?
before, nikon d60, d40x, d3000, now I'm using d7000
How would you characterize the style of your photography?
very advertorial I guess.
Can you share with us some recent images?
sure!
And what's the story behind it?
I recently did a shoot at Escolta and it reminds me of my college days in FEU the smell of the streets, foods, etc.. Very nostalgic actually. Well, I am a type of person who loves everything that has to do with history. and Escolta has some really old buildings that definitely fit the concept we have in mind (stylist, MUA, model) I wish I have visited a museum there. sayang!
Who or what influenced you to become a photographer? How did you become a photographer?
fashion and music.And I think I am a type of person is more into visual arts. I appreciate everything that has to do with music and fashion.
And When did your career start as a professional photographer?
2 years ago I think when Inquirer got me as a contributing photog on their life style/ fashion section.
What makes a good photographer in your opinion?
Just have passion in everything that you do.
Do You Have A Favorite Walk Around Lens...If So What Is It?

Which one item of equipment would you say is the most important to you?
Aside from my cam, my lens
What is the most rewarding part of photography?
When people appreciates your work.
What is your most embarrassing experience as a photographer?
Well years ago I did an outdoor shoot and it rained. I slipped in the mud during the shoot. grabe! buti di nasira ang cam.
How photography change your life?
It made me learn to appreciate everything that every artist put on their work. it takes creativity, imagination, experience to create an art.
May I ask whom do you wish/dream to work with and Why?
Ooh I would love to work with annie leibovits! She creates very inspiring surreal images. definitely a fan here.
What are the best tools for a beginner to learn on (besides the camera)?
Use your phone. I wish iphone were created yrs ago. some of my IG posts were taken using my phone camera. that quality is superb!
What is your favourite recent image you have shot recently?
hmmm... I have one but it's not yet been published. but this beauty shot is my fave;
Can you describe it’s creation in regards to location, lighting, composition, camera settings etc, also your
thoughts when creating the image and what it means to you?
It was taken around 12nn and it's really hot! we did a shoot in a rooftop placed the model under the shade, did a test shoot aperture f4 shutter speed 100 iso 100. I used a flower petal that serves as my foreground.
What are the pros and cons of being a photographer? Please be specific.
Well you get to meet a lot of good looking people and if they like your work you can do another test shoot with them, the cons is sometimes they think you can always work for free (exdeal) we have to make a living too.

I know you like traveling for shoot or even for chill-out, can tell me where is the best place to be to do some shoot? and why there?
Anything that has to do with history (historical places) it's learning and doing a shoot at the same time. :)
What goal are you working towards within your photography and when will you know you have reached it?
I believe I am a work in progress type of person always willing to learn always want to discover new things about photography.
