San Ignacio Church - Intramuros
Ayon sa blog site ng Intramurosmanila ;
The church (neo-classical in style with two towers) was built by the Jesuits in 1889. The famous Filipino sculptor Isabelo Tampingco and his students worked on the lavish woodwork on its interior. However, it was greatly destroyed during the war and was left in ruins to date. At one time it became the E.J. Neil warehouse. Currently, there is an archaeological excavation at the site of its ruins, it is said that San Ignacio Church will be the future site of Museo de Intramuros that will house the religious collection of Intramuros Administration.

Parang di ko 'to masyadong napapansin sa Intramuros, pero thanks for sharing this with us..
ReplyDeleteWars are never good then and now... we are left with ruins to photograph but it would have been grander if the buildings were actually standing as they were...nice shots, thanks for the informative post as well...
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to explore Intramuros because of the sheer richness of history that it holds.
ReplyDeleteSana makapunta kami diyan before (or during) and after ng excavation. I want my little girl to see it din and remember how "it used to be" (which is the 'now' for her).
True. Sana di na mangyari sa 'ting panahon. What we're left with are the ruins and a great/sad story to tell, depends on how you want to look at it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful church :-) never been there :-) miss going to church too :-)
Hehehe
ReplyDeletePag nakakakita ako ng ganitong ruins, naaalala ko ito: One of the million things I want to do is to have the opportunity to restore old buildings to its previous glory. Re-building ruins and restoring old structure is like remaking our legacy. Sana maranasan ko yon to be part of such project in this lifetime... pangarap lang...
ReplyDeleteinformative tlga post mo,
ReplyDeletenice pre...

ReplyDeleteWe've been here in INTRAMUROS
ReplyDeletemaybe more than five years ago.
I hope we'll come back to visit other
spots. I like to try the resto near it.
sana buhayin ulit yan, sayang, mukang maraming historic background eh :))
ReplyDeletewow i didn't know na simbahan pala to dati! i also checked yung loob nito dati and didn't find those figures
ReplyDeletetook some shots of this place too last year ..hope the government could help in restoring such a historic place.
ReplyDeletebefore any restoration, it's standard practice to do an excavation first to see if they can still find something of historical value underneath before it's built over.
ReplyDeleteThe old San Ignacio Church was destroyed them by combined Filipino-American forces during the three day battle of Intramuros under the liberation of Manila on 1945 and killing Japanese forces and after post-war the old church was never rebuild and not back to normal again and restoration.
